The Police Announce Tour

The Police (ticket broker police tickets) proclaimed their first tour in decades Monday at a rehearsal at the Whisky a Go-Go as a mob of admirers crowded by the celebrated Sunset Strip nightclub.

The crammed club acquired a taste of Police hits, including “Roxanne” and “Message in a Bottle,” and listened to the members chat about the resolution to reassemble and joke about the quarrels that led to their breakup.

The group, which led off Sunday night’s Grammy Awards with a live performance, parted in 1984. Members Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland have since worked at individual careers.

While all are regarded as competent musicians, the decades away from their old material was clear Monday as the band fought occasionally, with a sense of wit, to progress through some of the tunes.
